Hello! I'm Alaïa ("a liar" with a soft 'r'), and I'm a student from San Francisco, California. I'm working towards a career in cultural journalism and law. I'm interested in anthropology, film post-production, and culture industry.

I run a Substack blog called Auxiliary Complex, you can read its contents here. In it, I analyze culture, digital trends, and it's impact on today's youth (primarily teen girls). AuxComp has 300+ subscribers, you should join!

Taken from Substack About Page:

Alaïa is a Vietnamese student from San Francisco, California. She always says she wants to go into journalism but it’s really culture writing she’s obsessed with — cultural criticism, actually (with each step deeper it gets harder to rationalize a planned major into Comparative Literature). Alaïa likes to talk about all things culture. People and what they create. She’s specifically focused on identities through digital media. Besides constantly jotting her thoughts down, she is interested in anthropology, film post-production, and culture industry (and has a complicated relationship with Theodor Adorno). In her free time, you can find her listening to indie rock and R&B, wearing mini skirts, and mouthing all the words to Legally Blonde: The Musical. Alaïa is a major romantic and an avid Antigone annotator.
